Of Infidels and Infidelity
by Manju Dhall
Of Infidels and Infidelity, is a book that deals with, in Author Manju Dhall’s words; Silent battles and not so silent battles raging around women’s lives. This melange of short stories manages to jar the readers from their very comfort zone.
Each story in this book manages to touch a chord that was lying dormant for a very long time. I absolutely loved how these stories put light on how modern India’s women still struggle in the name of patriarchy.
I absolutely fell in love with the way each story was structured. I could literally feel the emotions jumping at me at odd movements. Author Manju has very intricately woven each story and narrated them to her readers in beautiful and easy to understand language.
I am in awe of how the author has woven such less talked about topics and intertwining them with love, betrayal, infidelity and etc… these stories give us something to ponder about and also help us emerge as a stronger person.
What I didn’t like about this book was that it was too short for my liking. I didn’t even realize when it began and when it ended. A few more chapters and Voila! I would have been a happier person.
Do I recommend this book?
Yes… I do absolutely recommend this book. It is short, fast-paced and beautifully written.
I give ‘Of Infidels and Infidelity‘ by Manju Dhall a 5/5 star rating.
