So, as they say in Hollywood, as always, you’ll find out at the final curtain call. Disney movies are among the best-animated films in existence. They have charmed audiences around the world. 

They have always been the crux of total entertainment, fantasy, and the best possible cinema you could possibly view on the big screen. For years, Disney films have ruled not only people’s hearts but also box offices around the world.

From what I’ve seen, there are loads of great Disney movies. But with all the amazing films that Disney has produced over the years, it can be quite difficult to decide which ones are truly worthy of your time and attention. While we may have been spoilt for choice over the years, here is a list of the 10 Best Disney movies of all time

The Lion King – (1994)

This classic animated film follows the story of Simba, a young lion who is the rightful heir to the throne of the Pride Lands. When his uncle Scar murders Simba’s father and takes over the kingdom, Simba is forced to flee and grows up in exile. With the help of his friends Timon and Pumbaa, Simba learns to let go of his past and embrace his future. The film features an all-star voice cast, including Matthew Broderick as Simba and James Earl Jones as Mufasa, and boasts beautiful animation and an iconic soundtrack.

Beauty and the Beast – (1991)

Another classic animated film, “Beauty and the Beast,” tells the story of Belle, a smart and independent young woman who is held captive in a castle by a Beast. Despite his rough exterior, Belle begins to see the good in the Beast and eventually falls in love with him. The film features an unforgettable score and boasts a number of classic songs, including the title track sung by Angela Lansbury.

Up – 2009

This heartwarming animated film follows the story of an elderly man named Carl who, with the help of a young boy named Russell, sets off on a journey to fulfil his lifelong dream of travelling to South America. Along the way, the duo encounters a number of obstacles and makes new friends, including a talking dog named Dug. “Up” is a touching film that is sure to tug at your heartstrings.

Toy Story – 1995

This groundbreaking animated film was the first fully computer-animated feature film ever made, and it remains a classic to this day. The film follows a group of toys who come to life when their owner is not around and follows their adventures as they try to return home. With a talented voice cast that includes Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, “Toy Story” is a must-see for any fan of animation. My personal favourite, TBH!

This superhero-themed animated film follows the story of a family of superheroes who are forced to hide their powers and live a normal life. When they are called upon to save the world, the family must come together and use their unique abilities to defeat a powerful villain. With its fantastic animation and engaging story, “The Incredibles” is a film that is sure to delight audiences of all ages.

Finding Nemo – 2003

This heartwarming animated film follows the journey of a clownfish named Nemo, who is captured by a diver and taken to an aquarium in a dentist’s office. With the help of a friendly fish named Dory, Nemo’s father Marlin sets out on a journey to rescue his son. Along the way, the duo encounters a number of obstacles and makes new friends. With its brilliant animation and lovable characters, “Finding Nemo” is a film that is sure to be enjoyed by the whole family.

The Little Mermaid – 1989

This classic animated film tells the story of Ariel, a mermaid who longs to leave her underwater home and experience life on land. When she strikes a deal with the sea witch Ursula, Ariel is transformed into a human and sets off on a journey to win the heart of a human prince, Eric. The film’s success led it to become a media franchise. With a sequel as well as a prequel, the first film was also adapted into a stage musical on Broadway.

Cinderella – 1950

“Cinderella” is a classic fairy tale about a young girl who is mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters but eventually finds happiness thanks to the assistance of her fairy godmother. The story has been retold and adapted numerous times, with versions appearing in literature, film, television, and theatre. The most famous version of the story is most likely the 1950 Disney animated film, which features memorable songs, colourful animation, and endearing characters.

Overall, “Cinderella” is a touching and timeless story that has enchanted audiences for generations.  One of my first Disney movies The moment I laid my eyes on it, I was smitten. I got into that mindset of also having a fairy godmother in life, which also happens to be an adolescent-age fantasy that I, along with countless other girls my age, have harboured and still harbour. Cinderella was not a story; it was a pile of emotions laid out bare for all, delicate and vulnerable, and yet something we have grown to love for ages. 

Pocahontas – 1995

“Pocahontas” is a 1995 animated film produced by Walt Disney Pictures, inspired by the life of the Native American princess of the same name. The film tells the story of Pocahontas, a young woman who helps to prevent a war between her tribe and the English settlers in colonial Virginia. Along the way, she falls in love with John Smith, a brave adventurer, and must choose between her duty to her people and her own personal happiness. “Pocahontas” was praised for its depiction of Native American culture and for its beautifully animated nature sequences, but was also criticized for its historical inaccuracies and for its handling of Pocahontas’s story. Despite these criticisms, the film was a commercial success and remains a popular choice among Disney fans.

Peter Pan – 1953

Peter Pan is a classic children’s story about a young boy who never grows up and lives in the magical land of Neverland. The story, which was written by J.M. Barrie, has been adapted into numerous films, stage productions, and television shows. In the story, Peter Pan takes Wendy, John, and Michael Darling on adventures with the Lost Boys and battles the evil Captain Hook. “Peter Pan” is known for its themes of imagination and the power of believing, and has become a beloved tale for both children and adults.
