Book review of You Beneath your Skin by Damyanti Biswas

Has it ever happened to you that you started reading a book just to appease one of your friends because they threatened to kill you with the said book, if you didn’t read it?

Oh well, yours truly, survived the threat to her life with flying colors and came unscathed with not a scar on my poor heart. But was I really not scarred? Hmm… because the book I was rather forced to read left their footprints in their wake…

I am talking about the book You Beneath your Skin by Damyanti Biswas. It was a book that took hold of my heart very unexpectedly (You know how, don’t you). It rarely happens that I come across books from Indian writers that manages to exceed my expectations in a good way, that too from a debut author to boot!

Well, You Beneath your Skin by Damyanti Biswas is one such book that I recently read, obviously, after a lot of pushing and prodding. And thank god (or my friend), I read or, I would have missed such an intriguing tale of love, deceit, rape and murder all amalgamated into one amazing ‘whodunit’ book.

This book was a dark hole in which I was sucked deep, the moment I turned the page for chapter 2. Ooo, I knew, I wasn’t getting out before knowing the ‘Whys’, ‘Hows’, and ‘Whens’, and etc, of this super psychological crime thriller set in New Delhi.

I was ensnared in the web, intricately woven by the author Damyanti Biswas. Even the characters were deep and intricately carved by her. Amaziiiiing I say!!!

In the end all I have to say is that you must read this book (that is if you love a good Crime thriller). And also a big thank you to my friend for threatening me with my life to read this book.
