CHAOS: In Romance, Sexuality and Fidelityby Raksha Bharadia I am not sure where to start. This book was, from the word go an out and out engrossing read. Author Raksha Bharadia made sure to write the book in a manner that even fiction readers not for one moment would want to put down it. So many things to love! Reading this book was a lot like watching an interesting documentary on the life and its inception on earth. And one can surmise through reading it that a colossal amount of research and some interesting interviews with the people ranging from psychologists, marriage counselors, medical experts and general practitioners (and boy is it beautiful) has gone into the making this book, Chaos in romance, sexuality, and fidelity by Raksha Bharadia. With incredible and insightful information and details, the book analyzes various aspects of relationships quite well. The author in her book ‘Chaos in romance, sexuality, and fidelity’ explores the history of love between men and women over the centuries and takes the readers one step at a time – not being too preachy and not too judgmental. And every aspect of romance, sexuality and fidelity are dealt beautifully with chapter by chapter. Raksha also sheds some light on how problems have emerged in familial relationships and the rapid rise in divorces shows that people in the country can’t seem to face the challenges/conflicts arise in their life. She presents the facts as it is. But in the process, the book doesn’t get boring. In fact, she makes it more fun to read by using some fantastic references and quotes. It gives readers the right balance of information, entertainment, and reader satisfaction. And by entertainment, I mean that the book contains some funny illustrations which also works as visual information for the mind to store in its database. This book is a definite “fuel for thought” and will rattle for a long time in my head. The book is divided into 5 sections. And each section is a delight to read. From the beautiful presentation of the content inside to the narrative style of the author and to the language, that is impeccably graceful and well-balanced. To sum up, it isn’t a self-help book that will help you mend your relationships. No, in fact, this book is an analysis of relationships that will give you a new perspective to look through. Publication: Rupa Publications Page Count: 208 What do I think of this retelling of Greek Myths? A Wonder Book For Girls and Boys is essentially an Anthology of short stories based on Greek Myths. It features the well-known Greek characters of Medusa, King Midas, Pandora, Hercules, Pegasus etc. Nathaniel has very cleverly woven these myths into lovely stories adding his own special touch. As they are written as a narration by the 18-year-old Eustace Bright to the children of Tanglewood, he can get away with poetic license or rather what I would call the mythological license. Do I recommend it? Somehow, felt quite appropriate to read this book on the occasion of Children’s Day. It was like being transported straight back to my childhood Gulmohar Days. I thoroughly enjoyed this bit of a blast from the past and immediately recommended it to my Kid who is currently enjoying it. Now need I say more? It’s a 5 out of 5 stars read. . . . . . About the Author Nathaniel Hawthorne Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in 1804 in Salem, Massachusetts, and is known as one of the best fiction writers of America. He was a master of prose style, especially of allegorical and symbolic tales, and this is clearly reflected in the characters he crafted and the psychological depths he imbued them with. In his sketches, tales and romances, Hawthorne drew especially upon the history of colonial New England, and Salem during the time of his early American ancestors. However, as a struggling writer during his lifetime, he had to resort to working as a customs officer in Boston and serving as the US consul in Liverpool, Lancashire. He is known best for The Scarlet Letter (1850) and The House of the Seven Gables (1851). . . . . . Loved the review? Let me be honest with you about when I first received this book from Rupa Publications, I thought that this read is going to be a tussle for the review but instead, Rajesh’s funny yet logical writing expedite my read and I read it in one go! I thought that this book is just going to be a book full of WhatsApp jokes, some quotes, and some shopping related stuff. But I was wrong, this book has explained the psychology of a consumer and a shopper very well. From ‘Why Men sucks at shopping?‘ to ‘Why we buy the things we buy?‘, he has explained to them all. The first chapter is ‘Do Women Really Shop More than Men?‘ and it’s my favorite. Favorite because we all know that women love shopping and Men kind of hate it but we never knew why! Well, the first chapter in a very well manner reveals this WHY. Also, it explains why Men usually forget to buy some of the things they were supposed to purchase and trust me it really does makes sense when you read it! Few things I’ve learned after reading this book are (From the Key Takeaways): The behavior of shopping varies based on gender, age and the category of product being purchased. There is no universally correct, right price. Shopper prefers self-service stores as they enable the ‘Touch, Feel and See’ experience. This is one of the key factors that drive, impulse buying. The most attractive and also the simplest promotion is always a straightforward discount. Online shopping is here to stay. However, physical stores are also not going anywhere. And a lot like these… The best thing about the book according to me is that the author has provided a ‘Key Takeaways’ and ‘Smart Shopping Habits’ column after every chapter so that readers can narrow down the things that each chapter is trying to tell. I would recommend this book to every person who loves to sell and shop stuff as it will tell you ‘The Science behind Shopping‘ and help you to alter the way you sell or shop for better.
