So, all you bookworms out there, Christmas is gone and the New Year is fast approaching. And even as another year sizzled by (oh yes, it literally spit and spurted away like a firecracker, didn’t it?) We still await the release of new books, hoping to be lost in yet another great read in a new world, hoping to dive into the skin of newer characters, breathing through the senses of yet more diverse nuanced beings, reflecting their quirks, beating the battle black and blue through their bleeding hearts, and emerging far more victorious than a warrior.
Wondering why I am speaking so philosophically today? Well, with the New Year 2023 upon us, I thought of sharing with you a list of the 10 most anticipated, upcoming, and popular book releases of January 2023.
Yes, being an avid reader and a bookworm who can rarely be satiated, I must commend how 2022 was a year so fulfilling for me and also overwhelming, all at once, that I felt like a swab cloth, all soaked up and ready to be wrung out again, spurting out myself clean of my thoughts, inhibitions, and abominations (oops, there I go again, the fraud ol’ poetic me eh 😊). So, um, never mind.
Let’s get straight into the list of the 10 most anticipated, upcoming, and popular book releases of January 2023:
Liar, Dreamer, Thief by Maria Dong
So here, Katrina, the main protagonist, knows her co-worker Kurt’s life inside and out (nope, she isn’t a stalker, guys!). And yet, when she follows him to a bridge late at night, she witnesses him jump to his death, right after he tells her “it’s your fault..”. So, she is the victim here, right guys? Maybe not, apparently. The perfect read for fans of Severance by Ling Ma (I’m kind of biased towards this one, you know). releasing on January 10, 2023.
How to sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix
Ok, heads up fans of “The Final Girl Support Group”, Grady is back with a terrifying, heartfelt and funny story of 2 siblings who are locked in a battle, trying to sell their late parents’ house. Oh, uh and the house wants in on the wrestling too and it doesn’t help that it is also so full of dolls that can’t seem to stay put. You will probably be wary even of your kiddos’ toys and plushies after reading this one, I’d say. Coming to spook you on January 17th 2023.
The Faraway World: Stories by Patricia Engel
A set of 10 compelling tales that follow realistic characters, struggling, unique and universal. Stories that will touch your heart, making you envision other humans more amicably and generously. Surely, a compilation not to be missed at any cost, Patricia’s work is surely being much sought after, following the success of “Infinite Country”. Releasing on January 24th, 2023.

Well, none more excitable, controversial and anticipated than this one. A memoir, this one is written by Prince Harry, the second son of King Charles III and his first wife Diana, Princess of Wales. Speaking candidly about his life as a second child in line for succession, and his marriage which has led to drama with the British press as well as with the Royal family, this is one book I simply cannot await longer, what with multiple theories and controversies encircling this one. releasing on January 10, 2023.
All the Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham
An excellent domestic thriller, this sophomore novel has multiple twists and will keep you hooked and gripped at every page with super high-end character development. Bookmark this one to read all the good and bad facets of motherhood and how! The story of Isabelle Drake’s life as a sleepwalker and how it drastically changes after her toddler is taken and she becomes a victim of crippling insomnia is sure to give you goosebumps while also pushing you down a labyrinthine path of danger. releasing on January 10, 2023.

Pandemonium or fun? Well, pick this one up and read it to find out more. Hmm, if you ever felt that your bookish boyfriend character could exist in real life, then this is the one for you. A feminist, laugh-out-loud romantic, this one hits the stands on January 10, 2023.
Final Offer (Dreamland Billionaires-3) by Lauren Asher
Written by the TikTok sensation himself, here comes the final in the Dreamland Billionaire series. This one is a multi-culture contemporary, billionaire romance that revolves around Callahan, Lana, and Alana.
