Books adapted to movies are something we all often like to watch owing to the simple fact that it is perhaps easier to watch the book in its entirety in a faster, easier mode than having to read it, meticulously chapter by chapter, in the bookish format. You may have several titles on your shelves that you have read, devoured, and want to see adapted into movies, right? So, here we are today with a list of 5 Books we want to see get adapted into movies right now.
So, adaptations are like the new hot trend, or should I say trend, which has been the current flavour of the season for some time. Thanks to streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and others, the need for updating high-quality entertaining content is high, which in turn has created a demand for these services. So, whereas earlier Hollywood was cautious and conservative, adapting only the best of everything, today all sorts of genres are being taken and experimented with, successfully converting from book to screen adaptations. Even different-genre ones like Dark Matter (sci-fi guys!) or Great Expectations are being made and are being ardently looked forward to.
To be honest with you guys, nothing beats the joy of reading a book. And yet, adaptations are everywhere.
A captivating read, this one has already swept readers off their feet upon its release in 2014, managing to grab the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Although the movie rights were instantly grabbed by 20th Century Fox, this one is going to be a 4 part Netflix miniseries starring Mark Ruffalo and Holly Hunter. A worldwide bestseller of historical romance, this one has it all—childhood trauma, broken families, and battered dreams. Enough material to make it melancholic and beautiful (sigh!)
A marital drama about what happens when the husband Roy of a black couple is wrongfully incarcerated. The last I heard, Oprah Winfrey had announced on Twitter that she was working on producing the movie. I’m still awaiting it though; this one sure needs to be made into a treat for all movie buffs to partake of the juicy drama and brilliant character sketches.
Indeed, this metaphysical fable is as sumptuous an adaptation as Murakami’s detailed vision of spirited worlds, lost cats, and falling fish. How can one of the 21st century’s most brilliant narratives not be adopted? Well, if you ask me about one of Haruki’s best works, this is one book I recommend being adopted right now.
If I were to put this one down in a single sentence, it would be a roller coaster that shall take you on a teary roll. With a stage adaptation in the works, don’t you guys think we should prepare to experience success in all forms as well as the worst possible heartbreak? Well, say hello to trauma and midlife crises with one of the most brilliant pieces of writing of the year.
A story about doors-where they lead and where they don’t, and most importantly, how to open them. Uff, what a stellar idea, ain’t it? Yes, a novel that changed the way you imagine and is so cleverly structured around magic that it is hard not to fall for this one. A great mix of romance, history, adventure, and fantasy, this is a coming-of-age book, which is one I want to see converted since it will only give wings to those parts of my imagination that have been lying dormant for ages now.
