So, do you enjoy reading Suspense Thriller novels? If crime thriller Is your favourite genre in reading, then this is the list for you to bookmark and save for your next TBR
Crime and suspense have always been one of my favourite genres in reading. I have always felt a certain amount of adrenaline rush especially when it comes to reading a story which is fast-paced, hurtling ahead at break-neck speed, robbing you of peace at many times, compelling you to wonder what is it that shall be transpiring next, which direction shall the characters move towards, what will eventually happen. I feel suspense and thrillers are always one of the ultimate reading experiences because it gives the reader the ultimate kick, in the form of a fascination factor, a wonder, a musing which tends to unfold itself, layer after layer.
So, today being in that ultimate Sherlock Holmes mode, (yeah I fondly call it that as it gives me a superb feeling to be able to relate myself to Feluda and the pinnacle of the sleuthing profession and give you the best recommendations for the Top 5 suspense thriller novels you must include in your next TBR.
A Murder on Malabar Hill by Sujata Massey
Ok, this one happens to be one of the most intriguing plots I have read in the recent year. Set against the backdrop of the 1920s this one follows lawyer Perveen Mistry’s journey as she handles the will and its dispositions of her recently deceased client Omar Farid whose inheritance having been bequeathed to his widows seems to have been signed over by them to a charity. As she investigates further, she finds it deeper and murkier than she can possibly fathom.
Sherlock and Devdas by Manav Vigg
A one of its kind fiction, this thriller brings together 2 of the most beloved characters who belong to different worlds and are never meant to be together. With a modern-day spin-off on these legendary characters, the writer Manav Vigg has paired 2 completely opposite yet beautifully complementary, eccentric and epic personas, putting them forth on an adventurous journey which is exciting, indulging and at the same time thrilling. A brilliant, refreshing and unique plot, one of my personal favourites on the list.
Two Indian Girls by Kumar Kinshuk
The second in the Kanke killings trilogy, this one was a mystery with captivating layers uncovering the eventual outcome as well as the villain in this page-turning read. With a bit of all element including politics, socio-religious as well as mystery, this was a story which also touched upon the essence of Indian history. A great pick.
The Amateur Detectives by Sayan Sahoo
A superb thriller, this one is a compulsive page-turner as riveting as some of the best crime fiction I have come across in a long time. With a bit of humour, just about an iota of flirtatiousness, heaps of thrills and loads of suspense this one should surely form a part of your next crime read.
A Rising Man by Abir Mukherjee
A winner of the Telegraph Crime Writing Prize, this is the story encapsulating the pursuits of Captain Sam Wyndham, a former Scotland yard detective, his trysts and escapades as he brushes shoulders with some of the most gruesome nemesis one can ever encounter. An intense, spell-binding read.
