Although my list of read Hindi books is long enough, it’s been a while since I read one. Social Network: Ek Samajik Jaal by Aakash Dweep Singh is based on the idea we are all acquainted with to the fullest. And yet, we fall in the trap, or as said here, the Jaal.
It is the story of a boy called Rahul who gets himself ensnared in the tangles of an online fraud. It follows two detectives, Bholaram and Sharmaji and their dog, who investigate this case and uncover the social media fraud. You might wonder, this is nothing new, right? We see all this every now and then. But the author has given it a suspenseful side that ensnares you just like Rahul got trapped in the social media fraud.
The book has a satirical side and says many thoughtful things in very light ways. You would be laughing at one point and struck deep with realization at other. The writing style and narration was engaging. I wish to read more such Hindi books.
The speciality of this book is that although being very short, it teaches many things and brings light to the truth that we are running away from. Technology plays the most crucial part of our lives, but should it rule us? Or should we banish technology and social media from our lives, when the future relies on it? Are we so overpowered by social media, that we have lost sense about those who are really around us? In this unending list of questions, let’s add one more and think upon it.
Is there a way to balance both technology and our personal lives so we can live peacefully?
In the end, kudos to the author, Aakash Dweep Singh for writing such an amazing and thoughtful book.
