Willy Wonka’s famous chocolate factory is opening at last! But only five lucky children will be allowed inside. And the winners are Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee, and Charlie Bucket, Our Hero, a boy who is honest and kind, brave and true, and good and ready for the wildest time of his life!

This special edition of Roald Dahl’s beloved story has a beautiful full-colour interior and large trim to feature Quentin Blake’s iconic art.

There are some books that you can go back to and read over and over, even if you might have read them as a child initially. For many that one particular book remains that haven where it all began, where they first may have encountered that love and true haven books provide.

For me, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl happen to be one such title. With everything from imparting high moral values to superb character depictions, an amazingly appealing storyline and a strangely comforting insinuation you might have missed when you were a kid, this is one book every single kid would want to indulge in time, every time.

Featuring the adventures of young Charlie Bucket inside the chocolate factory of the eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka, turning into a rather sinister expedition when they are invited to explore the factory and go on the wrong side of things. Will things sort out? Do Charlie and his friends ever realize the true value of family and grandparents or do they stay caught up in this endless rigmarole of insufferable brat behaviour? Read the book to find out.

Firstly, I have to hand it to Roald Dahl for writing such terrible characters so well. 4 awful children with equally awful parents plus Willy Wonka too. Not to forget him creating those fabulous chocolate inventions even though they may sound slightly absurd.

A treasure trove of fun, especially for those kids who love to push the limits of their imagination and are motivated by chocolate. I mean you will simply not be able to stop ogling at the concept. 5 children chosen randomly to attend the greatest candy factory in the entire world is one opportunity most children will dream of.

A fun adventure book, this one had delectably described visuals poised to make any sweet tooth hungry for a sugar rush. I particularly would for one say kids will enjoy the complete depiction of the factory tour making them see, smell and taste everything that’s described to them. As humorous as his morbid attitude seems towards the kids so does it also appear shockingly dismissive towards the possible brutal deaths of these kids in the factory because of their constant misbehaviour.

In another writer’s hands, perhaps this one might have easily turned into a gruesome horror novel. Not the case with Roald Dahl though. Bringing out the compelling, captivating side of rib tickles along with making one aware of the atrocity of the situation along with imparting the right message for it, is not a lean mean feat to achieve all of it together in one book yeah!

Kindness, modesty and good virtues always hold higher and go a better way than being greedy, selfish and also arrogant. This one will kinda make you remember Hansel and Gretel actually!

To sum it I would say this one is absolutely crazy and lots of fun along with a delightfully wild imagination and some morbid, wry humour. I would want to categorize this one as the perfect read for summer, especially if you want to ensure that there is strong morale imparting also happening by way of this reading to your kids. Entertaining, breezy and light yet highly enlightening read, this one surely tops the list of TBRs or the best books read for countless people, I believe. Glad to have got this as a book review and recommendation for your kids this summer.
