One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by.

Jeannette Walls

Indeed, if you ask me, I would pick reading over holidaying or backpacking, many times during summer vacation. As Mary Schmich has rightly pointed out, “Reading is a discount ticket to everywhere.” You can travel the entire world immersed in the pages of a good book without having to leave your seat. That is the power of books, of reading. It simply transports you beyond boundaries, without moving an inch. That is why we here at Booxoul thought of coming up with the 10 book recommendations for teens this summer vacation as we know a good book can take you miles.

Even if you may decide to travel this season you can surely accommodate and carry a book. Reading, I feel is something that needs to be incorporated, right from an early age. Thanks to overexposure to gadgets and technology, especially during pandemic times, has led both our children as well as teens to resort to technology and AI for entertainment. Hence, now it becomes even more important to inculcate the habit of reading, especially amongst teens as they are on the cusp of something that demands good value inculcation. Thus, we here at Booxoul thought let us start by giving you the list of the 10 perfect book reading recommendations for teens this summer vacation. This list intends to not only provide the correct reading list in terms of indulgence and entertainment but also provide much bigger takeaways in terms of the perfect value system for their growing age group.

So, straight into it then. Your 10 book recommendations for teens this summer vacation are sorted as follows:

Harry Potter Series by J K Rowling

Book Recommendations For Teens This Summer Vacation - Harry Potter Series by J K Rowling

What better title to start than the mother of all popular sagas. Harry Potter, which is a cult by itself for ages has been one of the most popular series read and retained by millions of readers across the globe. The story of a wizard defeating his nemesis, overcoming dark magic and thwarting all evil is something everybody including teens want to read.

For me, the USP of this particular series is the sheer brilliance of the plot, the relatability with the characters as well as the unique, magical world Rowling has managed to build, create and expand through her writing. Be it 7 or 70, every single person has loved it and will continue to love it for the rest of their lives. Quidditch, Hogwarts, Voldemort, Harry, Ron and Hermione, (not to forget Dumbledore) will be a part of our lives forever, till the end of time. The brilliant confluence of fiction and fantasy with possibly all elements make up for a fantastic read.

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Book Recommendations For Teens This Summer Vacation - To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

A novel depicting the true crisis of conscience, this one is compassionate, dramatic as well as deeply moving. Taking its readers on a ride to experiencing innocence, cruelty, hatred, humour as well as the apathy of human behaviour, this one is a masterpiece of American literature.

For me, this one started out as a tale in the sleepy, small town of Alabama culminating into something much more specific, purpose-oriented, what with the entire racial focal points embedded in the narrative making it an amazingly powerful read.
