Dream Beyond Shadows: No Ordinary Tourist by Kartikeya Ladha

Kartikeya Ladha’s ‘Dream Beyond Shadows’ is one of those rare books that I can read over and over again. Which is very odd for a person, who with all her heart detest reading any Self-Help or Spiritual books. You ask me, Why I loved this book? Because it’s really really good… And really helpful for someone who is going through some sort of identity crisis or a mental block, hindering the very peace of mind which we ultimately strive for. ‘Dream Beyond Shadows’ is an inspiring tale about the journey of the author, towards self-fulfillment. What makes it more fascinating is that this book is part autobiographical, part spiritual, part travelogue and part poetry. When I started with this book, I was unaware that it’d be a delight to read. Each turn of page released me from nodes I never realized I was tied into. This book is a story of Kartikeya’s journey to self-realization, that there is more to life than a successful career and a life of luxury. Life needs simplicity to thrive on, not the complexities we humans create for ourselves. This is a story of the author, who author decides to quit his job and take on a path that he never before thought of treading. The path of self-actualization through a journey of wanderer and a wonderer. Kartikeya travels to Peru in South America, where he encounters many soul enlightening experiences, which changes the Author in a very spiritual way. Kartikeya Ladha’s spiritual journey inspired me on a very deeper level. It kind of forced me to contemplate about the journey I was in and its consequences that may impact the mental wellbeing. The best part about the book is Kartikeya’s narrative. It felt like smooth flowing river; calm and harmonious. What’s more, the author weaved this beautiful journey intricately into an inspiring tale. I applaud the author with all my heart. Dream beyond Shadows has earned a 4 star for its beautifully written story and the lesson it teaches its readers. Rating: 4/5

The Camphor of Night by Samir Satam

It’s been quite a while since I last read a poetry book that managed to strike chords in my heart. Little did I know that this short book of merely 118 pages will have such a devastating yet lingering effect on my mind, heart & soul. Words seem to fall short in describing my emotions at this moment. All transcendental feelings seem to perish when I think about writing a review for The Camphor of Night. This is a very good poetry book of hardly 118 pages. So considering the size, it took me a little over an hour to finish it. Now let me get down to the facts which will help me justify my point accordingly. The cover has been designed very well. The backdrop looks very good, it’s simple yet vivid. The dark and white theme along with the rider and trees enhances the overall picturesque presented here. It looks attractive and pleasant to the eyes. One of the very reasons why I picked this book up. The title is another important aspect that captivated me. It’s apt and sounds interesting. It gets justified with the content over the passage of time. From the very first page where the author leaves a note for the readers under the headline, ‘ode to an unfinished coin‘ to the ending page describing art as a loved child of restlessness and insanity. Samir Satam has a very unique, lucid and vivid approach to things. Let it be short notes, messages or poems throughout the poet. This fact gets accomplished effectively. It also gets accompanied by the sheer tenacity of the poems which are capable of capturing the underlying emotions lying dormant within our heart. The figure of speech and rhyming has been incorporated well in some of the poems in the book. Though I felt this compilation could’ve been added at many other places of the book as well. Nevertheless, it was a really good read. It’s been ages since I read such a fine piece of art. Overall, The Camphor of Night is a lovely read. My Rating: 4/5 stars .   .   .   .   . Challenges of the Gods by C. Hofsetz – A nerve wrenching sci-fi

Like me, do you wonder sometimes that the world we see around us is not real? Maybe it’s just our perception that makes this world what it is. Or maybe it’s our mind which is playing games with us? Or wait is it something else!! Like a superpower, sitting somewhere and making us do things which we are doing right now!! God!! Yes, maybe he is the one pulling the strings & makes us all dance to his tune. If you also had similar questions and Deja vu of an alternate life, this is the book for you. Opening Lines: The first thing that comes to mind is that the afterlife is overrated. Page Count: 374 pages Publisher: Wild Rose Press Publication Date: January 7th, 2019 In Challenges of the Gods, Author C Hofsetz may not answer all the questions we have, but definitely gives us a glimpse of the world/concept that we claim to have dreamt of many times. He also gives us a new perspective about the almighty God. What if God is not meant to do the right thing always!! What if he is a bad guy? What if he also makes mistakes and then tries to correct it like us humans?? Mike, the lead character, assigned randomly by the god to correct their mistake, is a perfectly funny and equally sarcastic guy all girls dream for. Whenever he makes an entry, he lit up the pages of the novel and cracks me up. When his love betrays him in the story, I am sure every girl reading this book will wish if only once she could be part of the story to meet him. But the entry of Jane will surely crash all their hopes. Mike & Jane’s compatibility is just perfect. Other characters also play their role well and never leaves you wondering why the hell they are in the story. Mike’s journey to complete his mission i.e.to destroy the alternate world is described so well by the author that you are compelled to turn the pages one after another. The language and flow of the story are smooth too. However, Mike’s soliloquy sometimes becomes quite lengthy & hence boring. Though the plot of this sci-fi is really good, it could have been short. Who doesn’t like a short gripping read after all? So, with an overall rating of 4/5 stars, I will suggest you grab a copy of this nerve wrenching sci-fi and start your new year by taking a step close to the future. Happy new year guys!! C Hofsetz Born: Brazil Website: https://hofsetz.com/ After working for several years as a professor in Brazil, C. Hofsetz moved to the United States and changed careers. He tried to hide it, but his family knew he was up to something. When they figured out what he was doing, it was too late—he accidentally had written a whole book. The result of this journey is the Challenges of The Gods, a story about a fantastic world of gods meddling with humans. .   .   .   .   . Love reading Sci-Fi?
