Devil under my bed!!!💀🧟‍♂️Superhit o Devil under my bed!!!💀🧟‍♂️Superhit or mere sensationalism? Well to be honest it is just not fair to be prejudiced and judge this one and compare this with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 1, I feel.To be honest, it is another sort altogether and frankly speaking I enjoyed this Karthik Aryan -Tabu starrer for its whacky, whimsical performances and eccentric story. Agree, with the first Priyadarshan's melancholic magic made Bhool Bhulaiyaa 1, a cult of that time but nevertheless, the next in the series comes as an equally fascinating albeit somewhat predictable respite to the seemingly endless 2 years COVID period where Bollywood and the entire movie world was pining for visibility and appearance.Karthik Aryan is superb. He is the perfect mix of a quirky, fun, con-man as well as the boy next door with drop-dead gorgeous looks. Even in sequences where he tries to re-create Akki's magic, Karthik brings his own magic, his own charm to enthral the masses.Tabu is the star of the show through and through. Won't say anymore but some actors simply are that one epic force who seems to steer the direction, the complete trajectory of any movie. She is a stellar actor of our times. Kiara is cute but somewhat dull as she barely gets to bask in this one. All the supporting cast including the beloved Rajpal Yadav as Chote Panditji are superb and manage to create a perfect mix of comedy and horror.Go and watch this horredy now!!P. S Horredy- a fusion of horror meets comedy,a word I just came across🤓😜

There are some books which always hold a huge impa There are some books which always hold a huge impact on our minds, especially when we are young. The Princess Diaries, one of my first YA series, made me discover the absolutely amazing genre called YA aka Young adult where I enjoyed every moment of reading all 10 books of the series. Making memories along the way, I absolutely revelled and indulged in each and every book of the series. It was one of the first instances where I had developed a proper, huge crush on the main protagonist Michael. I laughed and cried with him, being mesmerized and rendered speechless with his presence and enamoured by the charm of his affability.Do you also have any such memory or memorable book you would like to share with me?Let me know in the comments below.

Review: All The Lovers in the Night by Mieko Kawak Review: All The Lovers in the Night by Mieko KawakamiEver read a book so subtly coy yet so kaleidoscopic in essence that it threatens to thwart all sense of judgement you hold into inane nothings?Just happened to finish reading “All the Lovers in the Night “by Mieko Kawakami and boy, was I left speechless!!A character study, initially by the main protagonist, Fuyuko Irie, this one delves into her self -introspection, where she realizes that she is the perfect example of a miserable person, lonely and detached. In an attempt to fight and ward off this isolation and melancholy, she befriends Mitsutsuka, a man much older and who, like her “supposedly” shares a common interest in the science of light. They muse upon how light, which is scientifically one of the most powerful forces, absorbs as well as vanishes from our lives. Yes, there is where I could completely relate to and feel the metaphorical reference Mieko has put forth through the references, the comparatives put across having been done for the purpose of not only a metaphor but putting across a much deeper, intense reality-the inadvertent universal trajectory of life and death aka vanishment. With the style of writing being introspective, Mieko has brought out a parallel tangent, presenting this novel in a steady yet meandering manner. It appears isolated, aloof and non- indulging in a manner. There are even points in the narrative which will seem as if you are caught up in that continuum alongside Fuyuko, between the web of now and here, bidding away your time, to reach…nothing or nowhere next. But then, that exactly I‘d say is the strength and beauty of Mieko’s writing. To be able to get us along to that pinpoint and suspend us at it, poised towards nowhere, making us fully comprehend and understand the protagonist and her current mindset, her plight, and her struggles. I personally resonated with how she seemed to be living life at many points on autopilot, cold, robotic and unyielding.A brilliant read, yes melancholic agreed but yet profound and mirror-like.

So, today going a little away from my usual musing So, today going a little away from my usual musings and mullings, book reviews, recommendations and such, and inspired by @bookish.fame ‘s post I thought let's give everyone a little peep into my persona, my daily routines, and a little bit of ME, jotted down for you all to read and share...1. What beverage accompanies you on your reads? Tea or Coffee?
Well, although I am a bespoke tea lover, especially whilst reading and watching movies at a theatre, it is coffee that I yearn for.2. Bookmark or Dog-ears:
Although, I do both, but am slightly in favour of leaving dog ears on the pages of a book as I have always felt personally connected, leaving footprints on pieces I read, in a manner of speaking.3. Reading Lists: By the ear or preset tabulated lists?
Definitely, by the ear, as I love and enjoy reading as per my moods and mullings.4. Early or Late night reading:
Definitely, late night as it is a lot calmer and quiet.5. Reading amidst silence or Noise:
I have aversion to noise as I like silence when I am reading.6. Classic lover or Hater
To be honest, I love reading classics. Am a dedicated classic lover. Yet, I enjoy reading them with reasonable breaks and respites and not continuously as they are more of an indulgence, to be savoured slowly and delicately...

Review: Road To Abana by Lata GwalaniSometimes Review: Road To Abana by Lata GwalaniSometimes some pieces of writing tend to say much more than just conveying a story. They speak beyond one’s words, one’s feelings and even one’s borders. The sense of déjà vu, comfort, and warmth one associates with his/her own home is an emotion that is so deep and embedded that we sometimes tend to forget that it even exists.Such a story portraying homelessness, reclaiming that home and many other powerful concepts are what made up my last read “A Road To Abana. By Lata Gwalani. The story revolves around Paari who is from the town of Sukkur, Pakistan, a home she was forced to abandon during the 1947 partition. The story encapsulates her journey from the refugee camps of Ulhasnagar to Karachi and Afghanistan. It highlights the hardships Paari has to face to reach her home which not only test her spirit but also her nerve and chutzpah. This also highlights the anguish and agony of those who suffer in the before and aftermaths of war, partition and such scenarios where they are forced to give up their normal course of life and family, their house. So, what is it that one loses in a war, in a partition, in a situation when the circumstances are compromised to the extreme level? Peace of heart and mind. The feeling of being truly yourself. Your roots, your nest, your home. Lata has managed to portray this anguish and having done that she has also taken care to ensure that one mulls over this after finishing the book and is compelled to go back and reason out how does homelessness really feel like and what it actually means for those who go through it. The plight of the Sindhi community and their struggles to battle for their identity and existence amidst hostile environments have been captured aesthetically by her.

महफ़ूज़ बहुत है पिंजरा मगर उड़ान चली जाएगी
जो आसमाँ न मिला परिंदे की पहचान चली जाएगी!!!Well, I happened to recently indulge in and finish this amazing new poet’s work of Urdu Hindi poetry, Furqat Ke Raat Din by Amit Srivastava “Ameeq”, an ensemble of Nazms, ghazals as well as Kataats and Ashaars, where the former is poetry comprising of 4 lines and Ashaar is a couplet of 2.Ok, in case you guys are wondering how come I am so well versed with Urdu let me confess I have been a huge fan of Urdu poetry as I have always felt that it is one genre which very beautifully portrays not only human emotions but also those delicate fine feelings which can be only felt but not always encapsulated. Having read countless Urdu poetry over the years, I somehow was missing the warmth, which touches my heart, every time I read Urdu. I always was on the lookout for something deep, intense, and classic like what Gulzar Sahab or the revered Manzar Bhopali write. Actually, the flair and flavour that forms the part of a proper Mushaaira aka an Urdu poetry rendition is the true adrenaline that used to keep me high and what I was missing for quite some time. What for me instantly connected is the warmth, simplicity and sheer innocence his poems have managed to splay across, scattering colourful hues of sorts, dousing its readers in a myriad of colours and emotions where there is not only love, sacrifice, heartbreak but also daily nuances of life which are always there but somewhat inconspicuous and hence ignored. Through a wide array and multiple forms of poetry used, Ameeq successfully manages to keep the readers hooked on, mesmerized to his work, dispersing his vantage of thoughts, taking them to unsought and unventured lands of imagination. The biggest differentiator of this book is the fact that on almost every page I found a line, couplet or poem which enticed me, healing me in a cathartic, therapeutic manner, staying with me for ages after I finished reading the piece.

Headless Torso? Spooky huh! 💀Review: Murdrum Headless Torso? Spooky huh! 💀Review: Murdrum by Dr Sohil MakwanaI always enjoy reading thrillers which have research as well as logical chains of reasoning and fact. This genre which is my favourite is the one I strongly feel requires a lot of skill to pull off, given the magnitude of creative checkboxes it needs to be ticking on.Murdrum: The Probe begins by Dr Sohil Makwana is a riveting thriller that promises to keep you on the labyrinthine roller coaster of intellect, mystery and crime poised precariously, waiting to take the plunge into its awesome depths.A story full of twists and turns, Komal Rathod an intern at CBI, has been assigned the dreary job of collecting the data and solving the murder of a lady whose decapitated head makes its way on the streets of Ulhasnagar only to be discovered by a child and set the pace rolling for an intense investigation. Will Komal, whose only childhood has probably been marked by insensitivity to pain, be able to solve this high-tech forensic crime? Read the book to find out more. With a well-crafted plot, an engaging narrative and storyline, and intensely crafted characterizations, Dr Sohil’s Murdrum is one of those books which I have seen very rarely come by. Being a thriller, that drabbles in criminal psychology, here is a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat right until the end, compelling you to take the plunge into it, losing yourself in its depths. Not to forget the fact that the details of medical knowledge and their association with regard to the crime have been very diligently laid down by the writer making it an indulgent, intellectual read. Also, surely, the way this one ends with, a cliffhanger sort of tone, I am positive there must be a next in the works. To sum it up, a superb thriller is best suited to those who love to read and delve into psychological crime fiction and its tenacious grasp.

Never ever did I think that a story of self-identi Never ever did I think that a story of self-identity, self-recognition and the echelons of power in life could be so dynamic enough in spite of revolving around a sensitive topic such as LGBTQ.Today, we at Booxoul are doing the Blog tour for such a compelling title 'The Manager' by A.K.Wilson which is fiction and surely promises to be an exciting read.Touted to be a story covering multiple spectrums, I am especially looking forward to this read as it also pertains to dealing with the concepts of transphobia as well as homophobia. The cover looks visually stunning, conveying the core idea metaphorically, surreptitiously putting across the writer's vision in a clear yet minimalistic manner.Looking forward to this super intriguing read...Thank you @wbecreative @clairemaxwell for the Blog Tour of ‘The Manager’

“Are you looking for strange flavours, ethnic ex “Are you looking for strange flavours, ethnic exoticism, family hostility, immigrant anxiety served with a heady dash of hatred?”This line is from a book I recently finished, which seems like the perfect recipe for a narrative so intriguing that it will keep you pining to know its eventuality and its resultant fate. That is exactly the whole point and summary of the style of writing Lan Samantha Chang has encapsulated through this book titled “The Family Chao.” Not to forget the fact that this is a classic retelling of the book “The Brothers Karamazov” by Fyodor Dostoevsky. This one which is an obvious retelling does more than ferrying the story across cultures from a Russian to a Chinese base, not to forget the century modernization, moving from the 19th back then to the 21st in the latter. The story that grapples around the lines of drama, conflict, inheritance, desires, deceits, and the dirty secrets of a family at large is undoubtedly one ambitious spin-off from the original it tries to retell. Revolving around Leo, his wife Winnie and their sons Dagou, Ming and James it is written in a third-person perspective to give a more universal and unbiased spectrum to the whole scenario. Leo, whose character is as ugly and lewd as it gets is only dwarfed by the fact that his sons have been sketched to be more bumbling and gawkish as compared to their father and not so low morally. The courtroom scenes definitely made up for some of the best reading in the book. Each character has been designed and proceeded along with a purpose, to infuse that same seamless gait into the plot and the narrative that makes up for the flamboyance the concept has been envisioned upon.A good spin-off, getting its own strengths to the table whilst re-narrating the old classic. A fresh read on a classic family drama.---

#Review : Free Thinker On God and Religion by Brig #Review : Free Thinker On God and Religion by Brig Darshan KhullarEver thought about how it would feel to defend what has been lying undefended for aeons, or about contraindicating a pre-established thought set or about seeing the very basis of the genesis of our existential-religious, spiritual, holistic and otherwise from a completely different spectrum? It felt the newest possible approach towards not only describing and shedding light upon the five primary religions of the world but also pondering over the underlying contra indicatory facts that are the basis of them, yet eventually making us embrace what is the good and sublime from the lot.Brigadier Darshan begins this one by giving us a foray into his idea of who or what is actually God. As he has rightly pointed out, Baruch Spinoza the Dutch philosopher has regarded God as the Principal law of nature, the sum of all eternal laws.Breaking this down further, he has minutely explored this at the community/societal level stating how it is an aggressive minority that generally drives any society. Linking this to questioning another important argument, aka the existence of heaven and hell, Khullar subtly has put across the ideology that whatever may be the case scenario, we as humans cannot deny that we exist in the middle of all these occurrences which we can attribute to being divine or hellish, further re-establishing our ideology that yes all exists in between the space-time continuum we are also a minuscule part of.As per Buddhism the ideology, that there exists non-existence aka avasya (a non-self that cannot be defined) is what really had me mulling over how beautifully he has penned down these absolutely precious thoughts, scattering these pearls of self-wisdom in a manner so effortless, easy to take away from yet a sort of a boundless entity you can choose to know if you are a free thinker aka a radical, logically inclined person.Yes, that is exactly what is the concept and purpose of this book. A Free thought cycle.

Spine of a book - What does it symbolize??Ever g Spine of a book - What does it symbolize??Ever given it a thought??As we proceed from left to right in this picture we realize the books, their spines get sharper and clearer, making our perspective and vantage much more focused and refined. Well, isn't that exactly what writing is all about?Take a poetry book for instance. The poet splays his feelings, his emotions, spreading them like colorful hues over canvas.Likewise, a thriller courses adrenaline through the neurons of your mind, making you excited for more. Similarly, a self help incites the best takeaways one can extricate in their course of lives. Each genre holds it own specific pros, shining and dazzling like a jewel in its own tiara. One just has to dive into their beauty.Hence, the symbology, dull to sharp. Making finesse and picking it through a vortex of oblivion.Currently reading All the lovers in the night by Mieko Kawakami.A book that is a mirror reflection of these thoughts I feel identically for a book.Perusing my ideal favorite. What is your current read??

"Ingenuity especially in times of distress is an a "Ingenuity especially in times of distress is an asset that can take one place." -AnonTrue. To each word, this one is. A book I recently finished completely seconds the above. The Kitchen Front by Jennifer Ryan is one such book that teaches you the spirit of the relentless pursuit of resourcefulness and perseverance even in the toughest of times. The story of 4 women, their lives, and their challenging situations, set in the Fenley village of England during the World war II period is not only an entertaining but an inspirational read too.Audrey, Gwendoline, Nell and Zeida are four women striving to reach another podium of their lives when during the times of the war they are encountered with a unique proposition to enter the run for a co-host for a popular cookery contest.
Painting the hues of what happens when one resolutely ploughs through the curveballs in life, coming up stronger, more vibrant and successful is the underlying message in this one.I loved the way the writers have built upon each and every character, making one feel themselves to be completely in their skin at times.
Not only is this historical fiction a heartwarming read, but it also gives us a slice of real-life portraying the bottlenecks faced by people during war times."Winning the war isn't only about young men fighting on the front line. It's about the homefront too and how we can stay strong for them through all the shortages and the rationing." This is a quote that shall stick with you throughout as you embark and proceed through this amazing read.

Do you know what strikes one first whenever they p Do you know what strikes one first whenever they pick a Lucy Foley book? The erratic, eccentric, multiple POVs that are put forth. A riveting mystery about a missing half brother who has vanished and the other occupants who stay around the apartment he was last visible at.Jess, the pivotal character, is one of the primary ones focused on in the book. I liked the way her character has been built and portrayed to incorporate and showcase not only recklessness but also resilience.Amidst slowly building tension, a creepy kind of a build-up and diverse POVs this one is an intriguing read, I agree. However, I simply could not register with the way the characters were cynical, even antsy, jumpy and fidgety to the point of crazy sometimes. Not to forget the deja-vu feeling I kept encountering throughout as along the way into the read, many a time I strongly felt that I had “been there, done that..”I mean agree there is turbulence in this psychological crime, there is drama. Still, that captivating factor, was somewhat missing, for me at least. The mystery is centred around a dysfunctional family, the different POVs though give the story a good multi-vintage and spectrum, yet somewhere for me, this one fell a bit flat, in spite of the build-up and climax towards the end. Maybe, others might find this spin at the end more interesting than I, hopefully. On the plus side though, there was a hook-like quality in this one as you surely cannot put it down till the end, I’d say.Good suspense, with short engaging chapters, a flowy sort of content this one surely boasts of a good narrative as well as a brilliant execution, albeit not exactly what I had in mind. My expectations were somewhat higher, with works like The Hunting Party by her.—#thriller #bookreview #bookreviews #bookreviewer #thrillerbooks #bookreviewersofinstagram #psychologicalthriller #booksreview #reviewbook #bookigreview #thrillerreads #suspensebooks #suspensethriller #bookreview #bookreviewblog #bookreader #lucyfoley #theparisapartment #paris
Do you know a writer who has the power to transiti Do you know a writer who has the power to transition us from an acutely intense, poetically pulsating contemporary romance to an unrelenting horror elucidating the painful journey of a boy’s struggles in his youth?Sounds like a vast spectrum, doesn’t it? Well for us, yes, but maybe gliding us through, literally like kites along the path of her fabulous writing, Mieko Kawakami is a writer who writes memorable, rare and unforgettable stories.Take her previous work for instance-Heaven. Giving just an insight into the true ways of life, without a bias of any sort, splaying it across for us without any judgements is beauty in itself. The frankness that comes with her writing in this one is astonishing and will breach through all your inner boundaries of self-protection as well as any kind of hope you might be nurturing, whilst giving you a true insight into the ways of the world. A truly painful portrait of misery this one addresses the struggles of adolescence, carelessly yet cruelly making you aware of the true obnoxious nature of life. Somehow, building upon discomfort and yet achieving it in a manner which is elegant seems to be Kawakami’s true knack, I feel.Powerful unassuming, Kawakami gives forth not only the pain but also the harshness and brutality of it, unfiltered. And yet, towards the end, you would be completely drenched in the philosophical complexities of it, which will leave you absolutely zapped with absolute unexpectedness. And after that perfectly poignant, unflinchingly honest odyssey you cannot help but be absolutely waiting with bated breath for her next piece of work. Yes, you guessed it right! My current read is “All the Lovers in the Night” by her which is an ARC and boy am I glad of it! Fuyuko, the main protagonist already has me entranced people!! Won’t say any more as don’t want to give spoilers, neither do I want to break the eggs before setting the basket away. Yass! More on this one coming shortly.

Hacker Alert!!Does cyber security ever bother y Hacker Alert!!Does cyber security ever bother you? Worried about hacking, huh?Well, that's the reality. Too much of anything is always bad. Similarly, technology if left unrestricted and unchecked , certainly poses a threat big enough to destroy anything.Well, my recent read seems to be promising enough to lead me onto the path of these gizmo related alleys. Hussain Zaidi's Zero Day which promises to be a racy, fast paced read is a plot related to cyber terrorism. Having started upon this one recently, I could decipher a very strong and unique kind of narration and detail in Hussain's writing. A book which is full of a whirlwind kind of speed, this one seems to be moving ahead with full throttle right from the word 'go'.Indulging in this thriller cyber crime fiction currently, I was strongly reminded of 'Dhoom' , the initial tech freak scene where the signal was hacked. Not only has he explained concepts throughout, the premise has been very well built upon, creating an absolutely spell binding and engaging tale of cyber crime and terrorism. With a pulsating speed, engaging, simple narrative, this one definitelyhas to be on your next TBR for a true tech thriller read.

So for all those who are wondering where I have di So for all those who are wondering where I have disappeared, well let's just confess I am TAKEN!! Soaking in the gentle touch of tiny toes and fingers, kissing that cute little bobby head. Didn't get it, did you?Well, for the unrequited I have become a Maasiii!!! My sister delivered a cute little doll who has become the centre of our attention and time off lately. I tell you it is absolutely an otherworldly feeling- looking at this tiny little sweety pie sleeping and cooing away to sleep, making simple and innocent faces...Sometimes, I feel tiny tots hold the true power to absolutely turn the world around literally in their little fingers. I mean look at how she keeps us all hooked on her!! Absolutely smitten with her tiny little eyes and that smile, ufff!!
Hmmph!! So am also going on with my current reads albeit very slow. Am almost through with Sons Of Darkness by Gourav Mohanty. At the same time have also started Road To Abana by Lata Gwalani and The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley.A wide array of an absolutely mystical variety of genres I am into.Splendid writings that make my day and a splendid tiny new person in my life who has got all possible hues of happiness and bright smiles every day!!Cheers to my little sunshine...
